The person you plan with is the one who builds it.
Riggs Design Build is a one-person design-build studio for homeowners who notice how a room is made, not just how it photographs. I work through the details with you, then build them myself — custom remodeling, cabinetry, and architectural finish work.
Most remodeling stops at the studs. I think a room is finished in its details — the reveal where two materials meet, the grain matched across a run of cabinetry, the wall a plasterer's trowel leaves behind. That is where my time goes.
One craftsman, from the first conversation to the last coat.
I work through the plan with you directly, then build it myself — no design department, no rotating sub crews, nothing lost in translation along the way.
Custom Remodeling
Whole-home and single-room renovations, planned with you and built by hand, start to finish.
Cabinetry & Millwork
Site-built and shop-built casework, hand-selected lumber, and joinery you can see and feel.
Finish Carpentry
Trim, paneling, built-ins, and the transitions between materials most jobs skip past.
Architectural Details
Custom moldings, coffered ceilings, and one-of-a-kind millwork, detailed specifically for the room.
Decorative Plaster & Faux Stone
Hand-finished Venetian plaster, limewash, and faux stone surfaces, now joining the studio's offerings.
Interior Design Guidance
Layout and material guidance drawn from my own interior design background — available if you want it, never required.
Craftsmanship, built by hand.
A closer look at the work — stair enclosures, custom doors, built-in storage, and finish trim, built and fitted on site rather than ordered from a catalog.
Photographed on active job sites — this is the studio's current work, not a styled portfolio. Finished project photography is on its way.
A single, integrated design-build process.
Discovery & Planning
We walk the space and talk through what you want it to become. I refine your ideas into a clear, workable plan rather than starting from a blank page of my own.
Materials & Details
Cabinetry specs and finish selections — plaster, stone, and wood — get chosen and detailed together before any work begins.
Build
I do the work myself, hands-on, from the plan we agreed on — the same person you talked it through with.
Finish
Final detailing and a full walkthrough together, with the punch list closed out before I call it done.
Knoxville-built, by one craftsman who stays on the job.
Riggs Design Build is a one-person design-build studio based in Knoxville, working across East Tennessee. I keep cabinetry, finish carpentry, and architectural detailing in my own hands rather than handing them off to the lowest subcontractor bid.
That means the person you plan your built-ins with is the same person who builds them — and the same one still there for the final coat of trim paint.
See it built, not just finished.
I post the process as it happens — cuts, joinery, and rooms mid-transformation — on Facebook. Follow along, or send a message there directly.

I take on a limited number of projects at a time so I can stay with each one myself, from the first conversation to the final coat. Reach out and we'll set up a walkthrough.
